Know about your WicommFi extender

The Wicommfi extender brand logo, the scan code for the QR code setup, power indicator light, network indicator light, Wi-Fi indicator light are located on the front panel of the device. The LAN/WAN port and the WPS/Reset key are located on the bottom.

How WicommFi extender works?

An extender works so as to expand the distance of the existing wireless network. It connects with the Wi-Fi signal of your existing network and then broadcast its own signal to the areas where a user is encountering the signal problem. After installing it, you can connect to the extender’s network.

This Wicommfi extender has a wide range of usage. You can use it as a router as well as an access point. The setup process is different for all of these. We will discuss the setup process in detail later in this document.

When do you need to use an extender?

When you are experiencing low or no internet access in some areas of your home called the dead zone then there is a need of installing an extender. This signifies that your main router is unable to cover whole area of your location. Only use the extender if you are getting no internet access otherwise, it provides less speed than the main router. Even there is a limitation on when to use extender but you can use this device as a router and as an access point also.

Install the WicommFi extender

Make sure you have placed the extender in the coverage area of your main network. Follow the steps for WicommFi extender setup.

  1. Plug the device into an electrical outlet and turn it on.
  2. Enable Wi-Fi on your computer or laptop and a list of available networks will be shown to you.
  3. Connect to the open network of your extender. The wireless network name that will be displayed is 2.4G_WicommFi or 5G WicommFi.
  4. Launch an Internet browser and type 192.168.10.1 in the address bar. Hit enter key.
  5. A login window displays having two fields. One is username and another is password.
  6. By default, the username and password is “admin” in small case. You can also select the language on this screen. Press the login button after entering the login details.
  7. A dashboard appears. Select repeater mode on the dashboard.
  8. Select the network name that you want to connect.
  9. Change the network name if you want to and also enter the pre-shared key.
  10. Click on the connect button and wait for few seconds.

The setup has finished.

Install WicommFi as an Access Point

Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to extender. Insert one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN/WAN port of the WicommFi extender and another end into one of the four LAN ports of the router. Also, connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the modem. Follow the steps given below.

  1. Plug the device into an electrical outlet and turn it on.
  2. Enable Wi-Fi on your computer or laptop and a list of available networks will be shown to you.
  3. Connect to the open network of your extender. The wireless network name that will be displayed is 2.4G_WicommFi or 5G WicommFi.
  4. Launch an Internet browser and type 192.168.10.1 in the address bar. Hit enter key.
  5. A login window displays having two fields. One is username and another is password.
  6. By default, the username and password is “admin” in small case. You can also select the language on this screen. Press the login button after entering the login details.
  7. A dashboard appears. Select Access point mode on the dashboard.
  8. Enter the network name, encryption and key for both bands.
  9. Click on the Apply button and wait for few seconds. The reset button will set the values to default again. The device will reboot automatically and you have to connect to the network again to make it work as an access point.

Install WicommFi as a Router

Connect an Ethernet cable from your modem to extender. Insert one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN/WAN port of the WicommFi extender and another end LAN port of the modem. Follow the steps given below.

You can protect your wireless network by changing the default username and password. Secure your network and avoid conflicts with other WicommFi networks in your neighborhood.
